Programme of Education and Care
The early years educators in Tallaght Childcare Centre strive to nurture each individual child’s physical and emotional well-being by being attentive to their cues, gestures, and needs. Each child’s sense of identity and belonging is supported by developing close relationships with them, their family and by helping them to connect with their peers and develop friendships.
Tallaght Childcare Centre has a play-based curriculum that follows the interests of the child to support learning and development. It is guided by Aistear – our National Curriculum Framework for Early Childhood. Through play children will become competent learners and develop a strong sense of self and a positive disposition to learning.
The four overarching themes of Aistear:
Communicating
Exploring & Thinking
Well-Being
Identity & Belonging
Supporting Imagination, Language, and Literacy.
The daily programme in each room provides many opportunities for each child to explore and learn through play with a variety of materials alone, in pairs and small groups. Stories, action rhymes and songs are important activities in the daily programme to create a sense of fun and stimulate the imagination while supporting language and literacy skills. The different interest areas in each room provide the children with a wide range of experiences that meet all the aims and goals of Aistear the National Early Childhood Curriculum Framework for children from birth to six years of age.
